Feefo Reviews Display in Bing and Yahoo Paid Search Results

Apple announced at their 2014 Keynote that they are expanding their relationship with Bing, as well as increasing their owninternal search capabilities, clearly testing how receptive Apple users will be from being forcibly (but gradually) removed from the Google ecosystem.

An Apple spokesperson told AdAge that: “Last year Bing became the default web search for Siri, and will now also be the default web search provider in the redesigned Spotlight search feature for the next generation of iOS and OS X”. Having already launched Apple Maps to replace Google Maps, this development fits into a rapidly-expanding line being drawn between the two tech behemoths.

What scale of impact that this will have on the virtual monopoly that Google currently enjoys in mobile search will be an interesting development to monitor.

What is the current Market Share in Mobile Search?

Over the past year, according to stat counter, Google handled 93.22% of mobile and tablet search queries globally.

This is an incredibly high market share when you compare this to the number of mobile users around the world that are using IOS:

33.58% of all mobile and tablet users globally use IOS. This represents a significant proportion of mobile searches which could eventually be influenced by this move.

What does this mean for businesses?

The rapid innovation and pace of development taking place across the online and technology sector means that your customers can increasingly reach you in new, or alternative ways. Your business need to be prepared for the ebbs and flows of online search trends and preferences.

Feefo is happy to announce that with our new search partnership with Bing and Yahoo, the number of search engines in which Feefo ratings and reviews appear in paid results has increased.
